Peshawar: “Three terrorists have been killed while two are still inside that are being vigorously fought by a special force of Pakistan Army.”
This was stated by Mian Iftikhar, provincial information minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while speaking about an ongoing terrorist attack in Paoka area of provincial capital Peshawar, said The News Tribe correspondent.
Media reports said that the terrorists equipped with hand-grenades and modern weaponry are continuously involved in crossfire with Pakistan security forces, who have called in armored vehicle to overcome the situation. The Quick Reaction Force of Pakistan Army is returning fire of the terrorists.
Unconfirmed reports said three of the terrorists belong to Uzbekistan while one is Pakhtun who have taken refuge in a under construction house. They asked for some necessities from the owner of the house and warned him about telling police.
They said that the suspects were hiding inside a residential place owned by former PMA Kashif Azam’s residence.
Bombers blow themselves
There are reports that two of the terrorists who were also equipped with suicide jacket reportedly blew himself up, while the Bomb Disposal Unit has defused two more such jackets. Blasts at short interval are taking place in the said area.
Moreover, unconfirmed news reports said another place has been discovered where some terrorists are hiding. Land mines were also discovered from Abid Reh area of the city.
Meanwhile, Mian Iftikhar said ‘they knew about the ongoing attack’. He claimed that the same terrorists were involved in last night’s large-scale attack on Bacha Khan Airport. He said that the airport has been made operational after the search operation has completed.
