Karachi: Fear gripped Karachi and Hyderabad, two metropolitans of Pakistan, on Friday after unidentified men forced shop-keepers to close their stores.
According to sources, the areas affected by the unexpected closure in Karachi include Saddar, North Karachi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Shah Faisal Colony, Landhi, Korangi , Tariq Road, S.I.T.E area, Liaquatabad, Nagan Chowrangi and other areas.
The miscreant elements also forced shop-keepers to shut their businesses in Latifabad, Hyder Chowk, New Cloth Market and other areas of Hyderabad.
Incidents of aerial firing are also reported in the two metropolitans, they said.
It is to be mentioned here that the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday issued contempt notice to Altaf Hussain, the chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, over his remarks against the judiciary during rally in Karachi.
The court said that the word, used by Hussain in his speech, were contemptuous.
MQM Chief Altaf Hussain and the deputy convener of the party’s Rabita Committee Dr Farooq Sattar, who is also a Member of National Assembly (MNA), were summoned by the court on Jan 7.
