Islamabad: Though the Pakistani government wrote to Swiss authorities, it is prepared to face reopening of cases against President, Asif Ali Zardari.
News reports quoted federal secretary law and justice, Yasmin Abbasi said they would fully avail service of international lawyers on the subject. They said that Pakistan envoy in Switzerland, Zameer Ikraam and embassy’s legal advisor are in contact with Swiss authorities over the contents of the letter.
The law ministry would also send two officers to Geneva to coordinate with the embassy in this regard.
Meanwhile, according to legal experts, there are seldom chances of trial against the president. According to Swiss law, cases once closed are difficult to reopen. Apparently, Swiss government earlier stance on the subject seems to be supporting this view.
