Pope Benedict XVI will officially launch his own Twitter account on Monday to join millions of people world over on the micro-blogging website.
Though the pope will be posting tweets for himself for the account, others will also tweet on his behalf, a Vatican official told CNN.
The opening of the account will be formally announced in a press conference tomorrow on Monday morning at the Vatican with Catholic and Twitter officials.
“The initiative comes from the Pope’s desire to utilise all opportunities for communication which technology offers and are characteristic in the world today,” Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli, president of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, said, according to the semi-official newspaper of the Vatican, L’Osservatore Romano.
