Mumbai: A 27-year-old Indian women, victim of an acid attack had her luck few days back in a quiz show where she won 2.5 million rupees answering thorny questions from botany, cooking to political history.
Sonali Mukherjee, made her way in the show accompanied by former Miss Universe Lara Dutta. The acid attack survivor was clad with a red scarf enfolded round her head and partly covering her face, wearing sunglasses.
She now plans to use her money to complete her treatment use her suffering to help fight the heinous crime of acid violence, which kills hundreds of people annually, mostly in countries like Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Pakistan, and India.
Nine years ago, three men broke into Mukherjee’s home, when she was a 17-year-old college student in the central Indian town of Dhanbad, and threw acid over her face which burnt her skin, melting away her eyelids, nose, mouth and ears and leaving her partly deaf and blind, leading Indian newspaper reported.
