Islamabad: A formula to set the tariff of CNG has been evolved with the consensus of all stakeholders and has been sent to the relevant ministry for approval.
News reports confirmed that Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has developed this formula which is now awaiting nod of the federal government. It will then go to the judiciary to get finalized and implemented in letter and spirit.
Sources said that the view of CNG station owners or its association has not yet come but the new method reportedly has their consent.
According to the formula, the Region 1 comprising of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Potohar will have the CNG sold at 72 rupees, 20 paisa per kg. Region 2 comprising Sindh and Punjab will have the tariff of 63 rupees, 76 paisa implemented in them.
While the gas price has been reduced a bit, rupees seven per kg will be paid to CNG stations under the head of ‘operating costs’. Other details of the agreement have yet to come.
