Islamabad: Finance Minister of Pakistan, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has said that wheat price in Pakistan is lower than the international market, adding that surge in the support price will help strengthen both the farmers and consumers.
The minister said had the price not been augmented, the country would face wheat crisis next year. He further said that the move will help enhance cultivation of the commodity.
The support price of wheat was increased 150 rupees per 40 kg on November 22 in a decision by the Economic Coordination Committee to strengthen the farmers.
