Rome: As many as six people were killed here in Italy on Sunday after a compact MPV van was smacked by a train in south of the country while it was crossing railway tracks.
As per details provided by local police, the accident occurred near the town of Rossano in the region of Calabria.
The authorities say that only two men survived in the incident who got out of the car in order to open the gates from the railway crossing.
The victims are believed to be Romanian farm workers who worked in Clementine Orchards and the van was transporting them back from the Clementine farm.
Meanwhile, the Romanian consulate has declared that it will help the family of each victim if needed.
