Peshawar: Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Thursday claimed responsibility for the twin bomb attacks targeting mourning processions in Karachi and Rawalpindi, two metropolitans of Pakistan, which killed 34 people.
Talking to a private TV Channel from an undisclosed location, TTP Spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan said that the banned militant outfit carried out the blasts near Imambargahs in Karachi and Rawalpindi.
Giving details of the attacks, Ahsan said that the organisation had carried out a suicide blast in Rawalpindi whereas the twin explosions in Karachi were planted bombs.
“We carried out the attacks (on Wednesday) in Rawalpindi and Karachi because the Shiite community is engaged in defiling the Prophet,” he added.
