New York: After Europe, Google has begun orders in the US for its Nexus 4, Nexus 7 3G and Nexus 10.
Google first announced its new Nexus 4, 7 and 10 devices at the end of October, alongside Android 4.2, which it called a new flavor of Jelly Bean with gesture typing and slick photo sphere camera. The main factor that piqued people’s interest was the pricepoint, which many regard as pretty good for the specifications. Indeed, the Nexus 4 comes in at around half the cost of the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Nexus 4:
The Nexus 4 is built by LG for Google, and comes in 8GB ($299) and 16GB ($349) versions (no microSD slot). It boasts a 4.7-inch screen with 1280 × 768 resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor, an 8MP rear-facing camera and 2GB of RAM.
Disappointingly, though, the Nexus 4 does not support LTE, but does have faux-4G HSPA+ antennas and should work with a very wide range of global carriers. Typical of Nexus devices it is unlocked, and for an unlocked device the pricing is aggressive. The Nexus 4 ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Nexus 7 and 10:
While the Nexus 7 3G is $299 (16GB) and the Nexus 10 is $399 for 16GB and $499 for 32GB. The Nexus 10 is Google’s latest tablet, made by Samsung. It has a 10-inch display with 2560 × 1600 resolution, making it a Retina device with specs superior to the Retina iPad.
