Peshawar: A police officer, along with his two bodyguards and two civilians, was killed and 30 others injured when a blast targeting his vehicle exploded in Qissa Khawani Bazaar area of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.
Sources said that the blast targeting the van of Superintendent Police Investigations, Hilal Haider, occurred when a suicide bomber blew himself up, killing the ASP on the spot.
Rescue teams shifted the bodies and the injured to the Lady Reading Hospital.
Six to seven kilograms of explosives were used in the blast, SP City Asif Iqbal said while talking to the media at the site of the attack near the Khan Razik Police station.
Security forces cordoned off the area and investigations into the incident are underway.
