New Delhi: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a middle-aged man at Dhani Mehaniawas village, seven km from Dharuhera, Indian police said on Friday.
According to Indian media reports, the culprit, who was working as a mason, took the girl to a field on Thursday to commit the crime.
He was, however, overpowered by some women when he tried to flee, said police. The women later handed him over to the police. A case of rape was registered after the victim was medically examined.
Haryana has witnessed more than 20 rape cases in the past one month.
