Toronto: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was off-loaded from a United States flight bound for New York from Toronto at Toronto Pearson International Airport, here on Friday.
According to sources, the PTI chairman along with other PTI activists were off-loaded from the passenger plane and investigated by US officials.
“The US officials inquired Imran Khan regarding his stance on drone strikes and the usage of fund collected in a dinner organized by Toronto franchise of PTI,” they said adding that inquiry lasted for an hour.
The PTI leader and other activists were later allowed to travel by U.S officials and now they were waiting for the next flight to New York.
It is to be mentioned here that Imran Khan is considered as an outspoken critic of drone strikes used by US to target terrorists in Waziristan area of Pakistan.
PTI recently carried out a protest rally, joined by International activists across the globe, against drone strikes from Islamabad to South Waziristan. The rally demanded U.S. to halt drone strikes as they were striking at innocent people.
