Geneva: Carla del Ponte, a member of a UN commission investigating rights abuses in Syria, said Thursday that war crimes and crimes against humanity were happening in war-torn Syria.
“The similarity of course is that we are… (dealing) with the same crimes, crimes against humanity and war crimes for sure,” del Ponte told reporters in Geneva, in response to a question on how the current probe resembled her previous experience, which includes working on both the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR).
