Islamabad: Pakistan Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry has said that the step taken by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to provide information to voters through SMS is the biggest progress.
He was addressing the ceremony held in the Supreme Court to observe first ever National Voters’ Day.
Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, the acting chief election commissioner, briefed the chief justice regarding voting system and the steps taken by the ECP to provide information to the voters.
The CJ also verified his vote by sending an SMS and found that his vote is registered in Quetta. He said that he would cast his vote in Quetta.
The ECP has declared 17th October as National Voter’s Day to mobilise eligible voters to register and exercise their right to vote in future elections.
