Johannesburg: Auckland defeated Sialkot Stallions on Tuesday by six wickets in the qualifying round of Twenty20 Champions League match played at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Sialkot Stallions won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision by Captain Shoaib Malik was proved wrong by the Stallions batting line. Except Shahid Yousuf, who scored 39 runs, the other batsmen failed to cross 20’s.
Aukland’s bowlers bowled according to a prescribed line and length and gave no chance to their opponent’s batting line. Mills, Adams and Hira took two wickets each while Bates and Mahmood shared one wicket each.
The Aukland team easily chased a moderate target of 131 runs in 17th over for the loss of only four wickets. Guptill, who scored 40 runs, remained the leading run scorer for Aukland accompanied by Kitchen 33 and Azhar Mahmood 24.
The Stallion bowlers failed to curtail their opponents and took only four wickets in the inning. Sarfaraz Ahmed took two wickets while Bhatti send one player to the pavilion.
