Karachi: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that the government is against the drone attacks it has raised the issue at every forum.
Speaking to media on Monday, the minister said that he apprised the US officials during his visit to Washington about the concerns of Pakistani nation regarding drone attacks. “I told them Pakistanis don’t like drones, i told them we are dubbed as American stooge due to US policies ” he added. The minister said that the US officials assured him that they would review the policy of using drones.
Rehman Malik said he met US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and US Attorney General and handed them a letter with regard to Dr Afia Siddiqui. “We are now waiting for their reply and we would send a high power delegation to the US,” Malik added.
The minister said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) respected the courts and its leaders appeared before them whenever they were summoned. He said that the PPP wanted supremacy of law in the country.
Answering a question regarding Pakistani Taliban, he said that it seemed like the terror outfit had splintered and its Amer Hamikullah Mehsood had been removed as the chief of organization.
He said that Mehsud should renounce violence and go for Haj and Umra.
