Washington: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik Friday demanded United States (US) to release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui on humanitarian grounds as her ailing mother of above 70 was waiting for her.
Talking to media representatives at Pakistan’s Embassy in Washington, the interior minister said that he had with all force conveyed the sentiments of Pakistani people regarding Dr. Aafia to the US officials.
“I hold talks with FBI director Robert Mueller and sent an application to US attorney general to review the matter on humanitarian grounds as her ailing mother and two small children were waiting for her.”
The minister also said that Pakistan was the only nation who raised the issue of anti-Islam film on international forums adding that the US should arrest the culprits involved in insulting Islam.
Malik further said that the US should provide drone technology to Pakistan, so that the country could use it against the militants.
“They had given us F-16’s, we haven’t used them against India, instead they were used in war against terror. Now United States should provide drones to Pakistan in order to target militants in areas bordering Afghanistan.”
Rehman Malik further said that he held talks with the US counter-terrorism officials over IED’s as almost 56 thousand military, police officials and civilians were targeted in the attacks.
He further urged United States to stop transportation of weapons from Afghanistan to the Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhua provinces of Pakistan.
