Colombo: India has defeated South Africa by one run in the thrilling final match of the super eight rounds of the Twenty20 World Cup 2012, here at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Instead of a thrilling win India has failed to qualify for the semi-finals.
Pakistan and Australia have qualified for the semi-finals of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2012, sending India and South Africa home.
In order to qualify for the semis, India had to win their match against South Africa with a margin of 31 runs. The Indian team failed to restrict the Proteas on 121 runs.
 The final over of the match, bowled by Balaji, was a thrilling one with two wickets falling along with two sixes hit by Morne Morkel and Albie Morkel.
Chasing a target of 153 runs set by India, the South African team bowled out at 151 runs. Plessis was the only successful Proteas batsmen scoring 65 runs on 38 balls. The other African players failed to capitalize on their starts and got out below 20 runs.
The Indian bowlers bowled well in order to restrict their opponents on 151 runs. Balaji and Zaheer Khan remained the successful bowlers for India, sharing three wickets each. Irfan Pathan and Ashwin took one wickets each along with Yuvraj Singh who send one S. African batsmen to the pavilion.
