Karachi: Pakistan Sunni Tehreek Chief Sarwat Ijaz Qadri has demanded of the government to immediately release Mumtaz Qadri, the assassin of former Punjab governor Salman Taseer.
He was addressing a huge rally taken out by several religious parties on Saturday against the anti-Islam film that sparked protests across the Muslim world.
“Lovers of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) will break doors of jail if you don’t release Mumtaz Qadri,”he warned.
Prominent among the others who addressed the rally were Ruit-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufi Muneebur Rehman and TV host Amir Liqqat Hussain.
Strict security arrangements were made to thwart any untoward incident with the deployment of Rangers and police personnel.
