Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed the government to reinstate Hussain Ashgar — the suspended police officer who was investigating the Hajj corruption case — in the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA).
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry was hearing the Hajj corruption case.
During the hearing on Wednesday, the director legal told the court that Hussain Ashgar, the former Inspector General (IG) Gilgit-Baltistan was suspended and inquiry the inquiry has also been completed against him. He added that new IG had also been appointed.
The bench ordered the Establishment Division to reinstate Asghar in the FIA immediately and inform the court.
