Karachi: Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), chain of US based restaurants, has denied the reports of wrapping up its business in Pakistan amid protests against United States over anti-Islam film, Innocence of Muslims.
Earlier, the CNN reported that KFC had announced to shut all franchises across Pakistan over attacks on American products across the Muslim World.
The KFC spokesman Christopher Fuller said: “Our KFC restaurants in Pakistan are closing as a precautionary measure.”
The administrator of KFC in Pakistan denied the reports and said that the fast food chain was not closing its business in the country.
“KFC is based on 100% investment from Pakistanis,” Rafiq Rangoon Wala said adding that the restaurants would be reopened after monitoring the law and order situation.
Unidentified miscreants attacked number of restaurants during anti-Islam protests in Pakistan on Youm-e-Ishq-e-Rasool (S.A.W). The day has been announced by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf with the consent of the federal cabinet in order to condemn the film mocking Prophet (PBUH).
