Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party leader Makhdum Shahabuddin has been granted protective bail till September 25 by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Shahabuddin appeared before a three-judge bench headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk om Tuesday.
His lawyer Sardar Ishaq Advocate told the bench that his client was booked in the ephedrine case by the Anti-Narcotics Force eight months after the case was lodged.
When asked who was responsible for issuing ephedrine quota, he said that health secretary Rashim Juma has issued the quota while the ANF had bribed Rizwan Akhtar to become approver.
Shahbuddin was given bail in against the surety bonds of Rs 500,000 and the hearing was adjourned till September 25.
It is to mention here that he was declared absconder by a trial court and was expected to arrested today if the apex court dismissed his plea.
