Islamabad: National Bureau of Accountability (NAB) has indicated that an official of interior ministry is involved in the misuse of his authority in awarding the a $124 million contract to Hauwei.
The project was based on the establishment of a command and network center at Islamabad that was set up by Hauwei Tech Company Ltd. It is known as
Safe City Project.
Based on constitutional petition, honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan in its judgment dated 23 August 2012 declared the contract illegal and referred the case to the NAB with the direction to ensure appropriate proceedings in the case.
Chairman NAB Admiral (Retd) Fasih Bokhari presided over the Executive Board meeting held Wednesday and authorized an inquiry against officials of Ministry of Interior.
NAB board directed the investigation team to proceed ahead in accordance with the direction of the SC.
