Islamabad: The district and session court Islamabad on Friday accepted bail plea of Rimsha Masih, a Christian girl who is an accused of Blasphemy, and ordered her release.
The court hearing the bail plea case also directed Rimsha’s lawyer to submit two surety bonds of Rs500,000 each.
Earlier on September 3, due to the strike of lawyers in Islamabad the hearing of a petition filed for the release of Rimsha Masih was postponed till September, 7.
Rimsha Masih is facing the charges of blasphemy for burning the verses holly Quran.
The capital police arrested Khalid Jadoon, the prayer leader, after Hafiz Muhammad Zubair, the eyewitness, revealed in a statement before the magistrate that he (Jadoon) changed the evidence against Rimsha by putting holly verses in the ashes.
While on Sunday, a local magistrate court handed over Khalid Jadoon, the prayer leader who allegedly fabricated evidences against an accused Christine girl for blasphemy, to Adiala police on 14 days judicial remand.
Blasphemy is a very sensitive subject in Pakistan, where 97 percent of the 180 million population are Muslims, and allegations of insulting Islam or the prophet Mohammed (PBUH) often prompt a furious public reaction.
Western Rights groups and secular circles have called on Pakistan to reform its blasphemy legislation, which they say is often abused to settle personal vendettas.
