Quetta: Fear and tense gripped Quetta on Saturday as seven people were gunned down in Hazarganji area of the city within one hour while later the aerial firing also claimed life of two other persons.
Police and rescue sources said that unidentified four attacker riding motorbikes opened fire on a passenger vehicle in Sabzi Mandi in Hazarganji area, killing five people at the spot.
The rescue team shifted the bodies of the victims to Bolan Medical Complex.
“It is apparently an incident of target killing because the victims were going back to their homes after purchasing the vegetables,” an eye witness told The News Tribe.
Minutes after the attacker, two more people were shot dead in the same area by unknown attacker, creating more panic in area.
The sources said that the assailants opened fire on truck terminal in the second attack.
Following the incidents, the angry people came out of the streets and protested against the killings and opened aerial firing which also claimed the lives of two persons and injured 10 others.
“They refused to accept the bodies of the victims and demanded the government to take measures to stop killing of the innocent people,” the sources added.
