Washington: The United States (US) Defence Department, Pentagon, Wednesday said that it has obtained a copy of a soon-to-be-published book, ‘No Easy Day’, by a former Navy commando who participated in the Bin Laden raid.
The book was not cleared by US defense officials in advance, raising the possibility that the author could face an investigation and possible criminal prosecution.
“We have obtained a copy and are reviewing it,” Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman told Reuters.
The book has been written by Bissonnette with a pseudonym name Mark Owen. The book revealed certain facts which could be uncomfortable for the Pentagon.
The book revealed that the slain al-Qaeda chief was killed by the SEALs when he was unarmed contrary to the US officials announcement, which stated that the SEALs shot bin Laden only after he ducked back into the bedroom because they assumed he might be reaching for a weapon.
The author also refuted claims by U.S. officials who say bin Laden’s body was treated with dignity before being given a full Muslim burial at sea.
