Tehran: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari Thursday met Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the sidelines of Non Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran, capital of Islamic Republic of Iran.
In a handout issued after the meeting, President Zardari hoped that the Indian prime minister would soon visit the neighbouring country.
The Indian PM assured the President that he would visit Pakistan at a suitable time.
The president said that some progress was seen in the negotiations between the two countries but there was a long way ahead in order to stable the relationship between the neighbouring countries.
“Pakistan is determined to go ahead on negotiations with India,” Zardari said adding that peace would help both countries to prosper.
Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari accompanied the president, while the Indian premier was accompanied by Foreign Minister S M Krishna.
The two leaders last met in April this year in New Delhi, during Zardari’s private visit to India. Earlier they had a meeting at Yekatrinburg, Russia on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
