Islamabad: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Monday appeared before the Supreme Court after the country’s apex court issued contempt notice to him for not implementing the court’s order.
Decision regarding his appearance before the apex judiciary was decided in a high-level meeting of coalition parties at the Presidency on Sunday night.
Leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Awami National Party (ANP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were also present along with the PM Ashraf in court room 2.
On August 8, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had issued a contempt notice to PM Ashraf for not implementing its order directed him to appear in person before a five-judge bench on August 27 to respond to the notice.
