Peshawar: The Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in major parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) as the unofficial Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee last night announced to observe the festival after receiving evidences about sighting.
Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti and Senator Asfandyarwali, the Awami National Party Chairman, offered Eid prayer at Chief Minister Secretariat while Maulana Fazlur Reman offered the prayer in Dera Ismail Khan. High ranking officials of the provincial administration were also present in the prayer.
The central Eid congregation was held at Eid Gah where Provincial Khateeb Maulana Roohullah Madni led the prayer. Eid prayer was attended by large number of the people including Federal Minister for Railways and ANP Leader Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour. Special prayer was offered for integrity and solidarity of the country on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the people of Hazara Division comprising Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Bartagram and Kohistan districts announced to observe the Eid with center on Monday.
On Saturday, Senior Minister Bashir Bilour announced, formally on behalf of the provincial government, to observe the festival on Sunday.
Bilour regretted that once again the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee did not consider the witnesses’ reports confirming the moon sighting coming from every part of the province.
He said 23 evidences of Shawwal moon from across the province, including including Dera Islmail Khan, Bannu and Bajaur, were received.
