Islamabad: The counsel for intelligence agencies Raja Arshad Kayani informed the Supreme Court on Thursday that cases could not be lodged under the army act against former prisoners at the Adiala Jail due to a lack of evidence.
On this, a three judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhamamd Chaudhry sought the record of cases registered against these prisoners.
The bench was hearing a case pertaining to the death of prisoners under the custody of intelligence agencies.
CJ said the report prepared by Secretary Punjab was with the court according to which 11 missing persons were picked up by intelligence agencies outside the Adiala prison.
The counsel for the agencies informed the court that they had presented their written stance on the issue. The CJ observed that this was a serious matter and had progressed beyond just statements.
