Karachi: Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on Thursday contacted Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari via telephone and discussed different national and provincial issues including the implementation of local bodies system in Sindh.
In a handout issued from MQM headquarters 90, the party chief demanded president Zardari to implement the local bodies system as soon as possible.
“Absence of local bodies system is creating hindrances for the representatives of the people to resolve the problem of ordinary man,” MQM chief said.
President Zardari assured Altaf Hussain that the local bodies system would soon be revived in the province as he had directed Sindh government to work on its implementation.
Altaf Hussain also called President’s attention towards the increased crimes of extortion in the city. The MQM chief said that the business community and citizens of Karachi are in a state of fear due to the killings of people who refused to pay extortion money.
He demanded Zardari to ensure full security to the business community of the city as they are the backbone of the country’s economy.
