London: For his innovation in field of food and hotels, LeedsĀ Metropolitan University has awarded honorary degree of business administration to a Pakistan origin businessman Mumtaz Khan Akber.
Mumtaz has honor to serve dinner at his restaurant British Prime Minister David Cameron, Queen Elizabeth and Bollywood actresses.
Born in Pakistan administered Kashmir in 1959, Mumtaz Akber came to United Kingdom in 1972 where his family was living. His mother started Mumtaz Business Group in 1978.
Under this group, first Mumtaz restaurant was opened at Bradford, which was later made a spacious 150-seat restaurant by adding adjacent shops.
As to pay tribute to his mother on 2009 Mother Day, Mumtaz Khan launched another restaurant after her mother in Leed.
āI am thankful to Leeds University for acknowledging my services,ā he says in a cheerful tune on occasion of receiving the degree.
āI was thinking to get retirement from the work, but this degree has renewed my passion towards the work,ā he added.
Besides restaurant, Mumtaz Khan has been working on food processing business besides providing Kashmiri foods to local supermarkets. His food company is exporting foods to over 37 countries.
