Islamabad: Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has prayed the court to strike down new contempt of court law 2012 as it was in violation of the constitution.
Latif Afridi, counsel for PBC, while arguing before a five judge bench headed by Chief Justive Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, said that the impression should be vanished that the judiciary was opposing the parliament. He prayed the court to declare the law as completely in conflict with the constitution and strike down.
The CJ remarked that it was important that the largest body of lawyers (Pakistan Bat Council) was seeking orders to strike down the law.
