Islamabad: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Chairman Air Chief Marshal (Retd) Rao Qamar Suleman on Monday said that although the PIA administration directed air hostesses to greet the passengers with a smile but they have refused to do so as it gives a negative impression regarding the women.
Briefing the Cabinet committee for Defence, the PIA chairman said that in our society if a women throws smile towards any male it gives impression of likeness.
The air hostesses have complained airline that they have been harassed by male passengers when they throw smile towards them, he said.
Earlier, Pakistan International Airlines chairman Rao Qamar Suleman has asked air hostesses to greet passengers with a smile, as it would help generate revenues to improve the airline’s financial position.
Congratulating new air hostesses during the graduation ceremony at the PIA Training Centre, Suleman said: “Each one of you while on job must serve PIA passengers with a ‘smile’.
“Good service and satisfied passengers will automatically prefer to travel with our airline, which would be a positive indication for better revenues helping the company improve its financial position,” he said.
It is to be mentioned here that in different countries smiling means different. In Russia if you saw a girl with a smile it means that you are a suspicious person. In Japan, even if you beat a person he would continue to gave a smile.
