London: The mother of Shafilea Ahmed has presented a new statement in defense on Monday that her husband attacked her daughter on the night and then she disappeared.
Mrs. Farzana Ahmed, who previously had denied committing and seeing murder of her daughter on September, 11, 2003, told the prosecutor in the latest hearing Chester Crown court that the incident did occur and his husband is involved in it.
Shafilea, 17 then, was allegedly murdered by her parents in account of bringing shame to the family by leading a westernized lifestyle. However, her parents, Mr. Iftekhar Ahmed, 52 and Mrs. Ahmed, 49, both have denied murdering her at their home in Warrington.
The 17 years old victim’s dead body was found near the River Kent, Cumbria, in 2004.
According to Mrs. Ahmed, when she came downstairs, she found her husband attacking her daughter and when she intervened to ask for mercy she was punched by him hard.
“If you care for your dear life and that of your children don’t ever ask me this question again.” claimed Mrs. Ahmed on the attempt of intervention again.
Her statement also said that she had asked her husband 2 days later to know where her daughter was, he was given threat by her husband.
“I have already told you once before, I don’t know where she is. I have also told you not to ask me that question again.” He responded.
Mrs. Ahmed revealed that her husband ordered him to not say anything to anyone otherwise he would do the same with her and with other children.
Her revelations ended by assuming that she believed her husband had taken Shafilea somewhere and she was safe.
Mr. Justice Roderick Evans told the court that Mrs. Ahmed’s change of statement in defense is a significant progress towards the case.
