Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain said on Sunday that conspiracies are being hatched to fuel ethnic rivalries in Karachi and vows to crush these evil plots.
Addressing the “Paigham-e-Mohabbat” rally via telephone in Karachi which was organised for the Pashtun and Hazara community residing in the city, the MQM Chief said that inter-ethnic harmony was needed in the city in order to foil all plans which wanted ethnic clash in the metropolitan.
Hussain asked the people speaking different languages to promise that they will fight against all the problems together.
He said that the country’s survival and safety was only possible if the democratic institutions remain strong. He said that the conspiracies against the democracy should be stopped.
The MQM chief said that all the institutions of the state should work within their domain of operation because it was important for the democracy to prevail.
The MQM Chief called upon the Urdu speaking people to provide protection to roadside stalls, tea hotels belonging to the Pashtuns.
“Promise me that you will play your role towards putting an end to the fight in Karachi. Promise me that the Muhajirs and Pashtuns will protect each other and will provide shelter to their brothers in times of trouble, promise me that ethnic conflicts will end today.”
