Islamabad: Commenting over the nomination of Raja Pervez Ashraf as Pakistan People’s Party candidate for the slot of prime minister, senior journalist Hamid Mir said the nomination of former water and power minister was a clear indication that the PPP was in confrontation mood.
Quoting well informed sources in the PPP, Mir said President Asif Ali Zardari was of the opinion that he was being pushed against the wall and bullied by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Mir said that how come Raja Pervez Ashraf, who failed to rid the country out of energy crises and indulged in massive corruption, would be able to serve the nation.
The senior anchorperson said senior leader within the PPP and coalition partners including the MQM begged Mr Zardari to avoid nominating Ashraf but to no avail.
Mir said that Raja Pervez Ashraf is known as Raja Rental and even a leading English daily (Dawn) called him Raja rental in its Friday headline.
Senior journalist and Editor The News Muhammad Malik claimed the MQM agreed on Raja’s name only after PPP assured them of giving home ministry of Sindh.
