Lahore: Pakistani athlete Mubeen Akhtar died on Thursday after fallings from stairs in her house, sustaining head injuries as a result, her family confirmed.
Once declared the fastest athlete of Pakistan, the 20-year-old Lahore-based athlete participated in 100- and 200-metre races and bagged three gold medals. She was also declared the fastest athlete in Pakistan.
She clinched the women’s 100-metre race during the 44th National Athletics Championship.
Her coach, Bushra Parveen, expressed her grief over Akhtar’s death and praised the athlete, saying she always tried to perform to her best.
Meanwhile, some sources revealed her death was not because of any injury, but she committed suicide. It is reported that she wanted to marry her mate athlete but here family refused. Dejected, Akhtar took the extreme step.
