Chicago: The government of the US kept its people under fear and sought to terrorise them, the way it behaved against Chicago protests was a clear example of it, a political analyst said.
The Indypendent Newspaper’s Arun Gupta, while talking to Press TV, said: “I think what we saw on the streets of Chicago is a prime example that the reason we have these large militaries and these police states is because they see their own people as the biggest threat.”
Talking from Chicago, Gupta condemned the brutality of the security officials against the peaceful protesters who gathered near the venue of the two-day Nato summit in the city.
He said, “The police presence was absolutely massive today. Thousands of police often on the sites, there would be 100 or more riot police, and all these shields, gear wielding these huge wooden truncheons for a completely peaceful march. It was a show of intimidation.
“The three individuals…it looks like a case of entrapment by the federal authorities, and it follows two weeks after another case that certainly seems to be entrapment, that the city of Cleveland where five young men allegedly were conspiring to blow up a bridge.”
“The FBI, the government, basically sets up a plot that lures people into it and then foils its own plot. This is how the government has been acting for many years,” Gupta added.
Over the past weeks Chicago police have arrested around two dozen of the protesters.
