Karachi: Pakistan People’s Party’s provincial minister Rafique Engineer demanded on Tuesday Rangers be deployed in the crisis-stricken Lyari.
He was talking to a press conference with Shazia Marri and other provincial leaders of Pakistan People’s Party. The leaders suggested in the conference distribution of compensatory Rs250 million among the Lyari people.
On the occasion, Rafique asserted that the situation in Lyari was critical, adding that the Rangers’ deployment was necessary to control the disturbing law-and-order situation in the area.
He said that People’s Aman Committee was not a sub-organisation of Pakistan People’s Party now.
He said that his party did not want politics of arms and instead its aim was to hold government’s writ in Lyari.
