Karachi: The Grand Operation of Police in Lyari entered third day on Sunday as the Sindh government issued arrest warrants of eight people including the banned outfit Amn Committee chief Uzair Baloch and Habib Jan Baloch.
Sporadic firing incidents caused tension in different areas of Lyari, keeping the entire locality shut while large number of residents on Sunday left their homes and shifted to other localities due to the shortage of food and water.
Police on Saturday continued operation in Lyari which was launched on Friday morning following the killing of PPP ex-naib nazim on Thursday while leading a pro-Gilani rally against the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Over 20 people, including SHO Civil Lines Fawad Khan and two women have been killed and 10 others injured in the operation which was began on Friday morning.
The police also claimed to have arrested over 30 people.
According to media reports most of the deceased were common citizens and law enforcers remained failed in achieving significant success against criminal elements.
Chaudhry Aslam, the SSP CID and head of the operation, told media that the police commandos would launch grand operation in Afshani Gali and Gabol park areas. We will try to clear both the areas today, he added.
The Sindh home ministry has also issued arrest warrants of eight leader of Amn committee including Uzair Baloch, Habib Jan Baloch, Taj Mohammad aka Taju, Noor Mohammad alias Baba Ladla and others.
The Police have also registered an FIRÂ of the killing of the SHO against 14 people including the Amn Committee leaders.
