Karachi: Police on Saturday continued operation in Lyari which was launched on Friday morning following the killing of PPP ex-naib nazim on Thursday while leading a pro-Gilani rally against the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
At least six more people, including SHO Civil Lines and a constable have been killed and 10 others injured in Lyari. The SHO was killed in hand grenade attack at Kalakot area.SSP Nasir Aftab confirmed that the SHO Civil Lines Fawad Khan and one of his guards were killed during the operation.
Two people were killed and another injured in Lyari. One of them identified as Sohail, according to police, was a key menber of Lyari gang and was wanted in several crimes including murder and kidnapping.
Meanwhile, SSP Nasir Aftab told media that Station House Officer (SHO) of Kalakot had been removed for his bad performance.
At least 24 people have been arrested during two days of operation in the locality, police said.
At least nine people were killed and several others injured on Friday in Lyari during the operation.
Meanwhile, police said that a man identified as Imran was gunned down in Gharibabad area of Liaquatabad Town and another man identified as Shazim Jafari also injured in the firing incident in the area.
According to media reports most of the deceased were common citizens and law enforcers remained failed in achieving significant success against criminal elements.
