Islamabad: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Admiral retired Fasig Bokhari has said that Rs 825 million have been recovered from the owners of Rental Power Plants (RPPs) in response to notices issued by the NAB after the Supreme Court orders.
The amount was given in advance by the government to the RPPs for generation of electricity and huge corruption was reported by the national media in the projects.
He said that procedure of plea-bargain was being used to recover the many. Â According to reports NAB had given 48-hour dead line to rental power companies to return the money. In response to the deadline two companies submitted pay orders of Rs 600 million while another company submitted a cheque of Rs 225 million.
According to NAB authorities, most of the companies had agreed to return the money voluntarily.
Bokhari said that according to NAB ordinance procedure of plea-bargain could be adopted for the recovery of money. He said it didn’t meant termination of cases.
He was of the view that the companies would return the money voluntarily and would keep 25 share of the money with them.
