Karachi: As a bid to assist needy brilliant minds of Sindh, Provincial Department of Culture distributed assistance cheques of Rs 30,000 among intellectuals, writers and poets.
Reports have emerged that some of writers and intellectuals belong to various cities of Sindh are suffering through financial hardships
On the reports, the provincial department took notice and provincial minister Sussui Palejo issued special instruction to assist these persons.
The cheque distribution ceremony was held at Mumtaz Studio Karachi near Sindh High Court building.
The department has also increased monthly stipend to writers, poets and intellectuals from Rs. 2,100 to Rs. 2,500.
The people who got monthly cheques include:
Ghulam Hussain Saayil Azad, Ustad Bacchal, Faiz Muhammad Baloch, Maryam Bibi, Mismaat Hajira, Abdullah Panwhar, Rukhsaana Begum, Mir Muhammad Lakho and others.
