Karachi: A passenger plane of private company escaped a disaster at the Karachi Airport on Sunday.
The Shaheen Air International aircraft, Boeing 737-400, was bound to land at the 25-L runway at the Jinnah International Airport when the landing gear malfunctioned, causing the tyre to burst from the pressure.
The plane went forward but then screeched to a halt.
The fire tenders and rescue workers of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) cordoned-off the plane to avoid any untoward incident.
The commercial passenger Flight ML-112, carrying 178 passengers on-board was near its the end of flight from Islamabad.
All passengers and flight crew remained unhurt in the incident.
Director General Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Nadeem Khan Yousafzai has ordered an immediate inquiry into the the incident and has requested Pakistan International Airline to remove the aircraft from the runway.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar has also directed DG CAA to completely check all aircraft of private airlines.
Following the incident, one of the major runways at the airport was first shut down till 5pm than till 7pm local time while larger aircraft were being redirected to a Nawabshah and Multan airports.

Hours after escaping disaster at Karachi airport, another plane of Shaheen Air International avoided mishap at Lahore airport on Sunday.
Sources said that the airlines plane, almost 100 passengers, was stopped before take off for Mashhad (Iran) as the authorities noticed a leakage in the fuel tank.
