Is Asad Umar likely to join PTI?

Karachi: The news of the Asad Umar’s early retirement spread as wildfire and rumors are being disseminated in business and political circles about his expected debut in country’s politics from the platform of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).

Asad Umar has decided to quit Engro Corporation as President and CEO as it was officially announced on early Monday but his admirers in the business community and in youth who are deeply inspired by his personality, ambitious and successes at Engro are of the view that he is going to join PTI in near future.

The official statement issued by the company stated “After more than twenty-seven years with Engro, Asad Umar President and CEO of Engro Corporation has decided to take early retirement and pursue other interests.”

The rumors were widespread and become hot issue in social media after an invitation was appeared online in which he would be chief guest at the event being hosted by PTI Professional Forum on April 21 in Karachi.

The theme of the event has been titled “What should be a national agenda of a political party in Pakistan?” that added spices in the rumors about his joining of PTI.

However PTI spokesman, Shafqat Mehmood has denied confirming Asad’s affiliation with his part at present neither he replied to scribe when he was contacted on the particular point.

People in the business community said that Asad has been supportive for PTI since he considered Imran Khan as an icon, an ideal and a reformer.

On the other hand, few people think that he will likely to start his own businesses or pursue business of Engro in foreign markets. Some of the people have expressed their view that he may engage himself as philanthropist or social activist and involve himselfin the welfare activities in future.
