Kabul: At least 20 people were killed and several others injured in a suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan’s western Herat province, reports say.
Tuesday’s attack occurred along the road to the Herat International Airport when a suicide bomber in a car was detained by police in the province’s Guzara district.
The attack targeted the government headquarters of Guzara district as people queued to see officials, AP quoted a local official as saying.
The suicide bomber apparently drove up in a four-wheel-drive vehicle before detonating a cache of explosives.
Eyewitnesses saw shattered bodies and mangled metal after the blast.
Another source told this correspondent that the suicide blast killed nine people, however no official has confirmed the figoures.
