India Air Force’s helicopter took the president and other members of the Pakistani delegation  to Ajmer.

The President reached the shrine at 4:15 pm.

Earlier:

Indian Union water resources minister Pawan Kumar Bansal received the Pakistani delegation.

During the visit the president would stay for three hours in Delhi to attend a luncheon being hosted in his honour by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The President along with 40 member delegation including his family members will reach the shrine at 5:00pm. He will stay at the shrine for about half an hour.

India has made special security arrangements and deployed 2,000 police personnel for the President’s visit.

Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police Taj Hasan said that the outer circle security would be handled by Delhi Police in uniform while inner security would be controlled by a special unit of Delhi police officers in plain clothes.

However, the visit is totally focused on to pay homage at the shrine but analysts say that Zardari’s visit will improve relations between both the neigbouring countries.

A 2010 Pew survey found 53% of the respondents in Pakistan chose India as the greater threat to their country, and only 26% chose the Taliban and al-Qaeda. At the same time 72% said it was important to improve relations with India, and about 75% wanted more trade relations and talks with India.

Preparations underway for lunch at Indian PM's residence
