Karachi: Government has decided to reduce the prices of petroleum products, on the directive of President Asif Ali Zardari, here on Monday.
The decision was taken in a meeting of President Asif Ali Zardari with Petroleum Minister Dr. Asim Hussain.
Talking to media after the meeting Dr. Asim said that on the directives of president Zardari a proposal for the reduction in the prices of petroleum products has been sent to Ministry of finance.
The petroleum minister said that the government has no control on the prices of petroleum products and it has to implement the international rates of the products.
Sources said that the notification of the of the above effect would be issued soon adding that around Rs 2 would be cut-off on petrol while the prices of diesel would also be reduced.
It is to be mentioned here that the government on Saturday jacked up prices of all the petroleum products as well as that of CNG. The rate of petrol was hiked by Rs Rs8.02 per litre to Rs105.08 and that of diesel by Rs4.70 to Rs108.10.
